Liverpool Guild of Students have launched a new bike hire scheme, they announced yesterday.
The Guild is promoting the scheme as a way of saving money and staying fit.
With a range of frame sizes available, anyone can hire a bike for £60 a year or £30 a semester and every bike comes with a secure bike lock.
Originally part of LivCycle, a sustainable project run by students, the hire-a-bike scheme is now being nurtured by Green Guild, Liverpool Guild of Students’ green initiative.
According to their website, Liverpool Guild of Students’ Deputy President Alex Ferguson, said:
“This is a fantastic scheme that lets you rent a bike for next to nothing. Cycling is a great way to exercise and is so much greener than taking the bus! This scheme was originally looked after by students and I’d encourage you to get involved with the Social Enterprise Challenge, which is all about student-led sustainable projects.”
If you are interested in hiring a bike from the Guild and do not live in Carnatic Halls of Residence, you will need to pay a £50 deposit.
