Shortlist of nominees for The Guild Awards announced

The shortlisted nominees for the annual Guild Awards have been announced.

The awards, now in their ninth year and hosted and awarded by Liverpool Guild of Students, cover a range of categories that look to recognise societies who have gained certain achievements across the last academic year. This year, however, the Guild Awards have had a bit of a shake up, scrapping the old system of following a framework of awarding the ‘best of the year’ for different types of society (e.g. ‘Performing Arts Society of the Year’ etc.) in favour of a broader approach where all types of society can be nominated for any of the awards.

Previously, the awards were grouped by the categories in which societies are coordinated, but 2017 introduces such innovations in the society based accolades as ‘Biggest Impact on the University Community,’ ‘Fundraiser of the Year,’ ‘The Guild Spirit Award,’ ‘The Challenge Award,’ ‘The Innovation Award,’ ‘The Development Award,’ ‘The Sustainable Award,’ ‘Campaign of the Year,’ and ‘Society of the Year.’ In addition to the society awards, individuals are also recognised, with people being awarded for ‘Course Rep of the Year,’ ‘Biggest Impact on Liverpool Community,’ ‘Activist of the Year,’ and ‘Outstanding Contribution to the Guild.’ Other awards include ‘Halls’ Student Committee of the Year,’ ‘Teacher of the Year,’ (across three academic faculties) and the ‘Outstanding Support Award.’

With the winners announced at the annual ceremony on Wednesday 3rd May, here is the list of shortlisted nominees for all the awards:
