Nightline needs YOU!
Are you looking for volunteering experience? Help your fellow students out by volunteering for Nightline!
Liverpool Guild of Students’ nighttime helpline for students is on the hunt for volunteers, and it could be you taking calls and giving a peer someone to speak to in some of their most testing times – most of us can relate to the stresses of uni, after all. Running from 8pm to 8am, Nightline creates a confidential system of support, run by students, for students.

So why volunteer for Nightline?

  • You get the opportunity to help and support fellow students
  • Don’t worry if it sounds a little daunting; the Guild provides full training and lots of support for all the volunteers
  • You’ll also develop lots of new skills, particularly in communication
  • Your time as a Nightline volunteer will also be recorded on your official uni transcript when you graduate

So who are the Guild looking for?

  • People who share Nightline’s enthusiasm for helping other students out!
  • No experience is necessary
  • You do, however, need to be empathetic and understanding
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills are great too (you’ll develop these even more in this role!)
  • You must NOT be in your FINAL YEAR (training/shifts will involve a fair amount of time commitment and final year students are often as swamped as it comes!)

This all sounds fab – but how much time will I need to commit?

  • In order to be a Nightline Volunteer you must be able to attend all of the following training sessions:
    • Wednesday 15th February              2-5pm
    • Wednesday 22nd February             2-5pm
    • Wednesday 1st March                      2-5pm
    • Wednesday 8th March                     2-5pm
    • Sunday 5th March                             10am-4pm
    •  Sunday 12th March                          10am-4pm

So how do I apply?

  • The deadline for applications to volunteer for Nightline is 12pm on Monday 6th February
  • If you click here you can see all the Guild’s more specific information on volunteering for Nightline, as well as get access to the application form you need to fill out to apply!
